Many changes will be implemented successfully, but there will also be changes that are difficult to manage and resulted failure. It is important that an organisation understand how or why
change is going to occur in order to develop a successful strategy for implementing change. Influences can include diverse factors such as the existing corporate culture, the type of change
it is required and the way that the change is perceived as impacting on the employees. In order to examine change we will use a fictitious example of change that
can be utilised to look at variant theories concerning successful change. We will use the example of a manufacturing company which is facing increase demand foods products, the company which
has been using the same basic processes many years is going to introduce a system of shifts into the working schedule. There has been some change seen within the organisation
over the years, the updating of the machinery and changes which have been designed to increase employee motivation, such as the introduction social evenings and increased levels of bilateral communication
within the workplace. However, many of these changes have been introduced gradually. 2. Type of Change Gray, describes two types of change; incremental and discontinuous. It may be argued that the
changes of the past were incremental changes; these took place in a stable environment and were part of a general evolution within the companys development, fearing natural to the employees
and the management. There were no shocks or difficulties and the change was accepted easily. This was in line with many of the traditional models of change, but it is
