This means that many approaches seen in business in countries such as the United States, may not work in other divergent countries such as the Arabian Gulf countries. For example
business strategies such as differentiation may need different features or perceptions differentiated as a reuslt of divergent cultural values, the same may be said of the way in which marketing
campaigns may need to be adjusted to account for local rules or values. If this is the case with these aspects of a
business we can argue that there is no reason why this should not be the same. However there are many companies that operate internationally and manage to apply the same
concepts in each country. If we use the HRM model of social man, with treatment that allows the individual to develop and feel important being a tool of motivation this
empowerment principle may be seen as clashing with many aspects of a more autocratic and less democratic culture. If we want to examine this
we can use Hofstedes model of cultural diversity to show areas of difference. Hofstede, looking at culture from a national dimension takes an holistic view, arguing that "mental programs in
people in general, and values and culture in particular" (Hofstede, 2003). Furthermore that the culture is "the collective programming of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or
