within the Bavarian Police Force and the way that accounting and budgeting may be seen as present within the decision making processes of this organisation. In any organisation there will
be a desire to maximise the use of resources. This will include the capital resources that are at the organisation disposal. This is true of both commercial and public services.
Hwever, there are different levels of accountability. Within a commercial organisation there may beprofit goals, and the decision are answerable only to the management hierarchy and the shareholders. However, a
public body will need to produce results that are not profit, but still requires the effective use of a budget. However, they will also have a higher level of accountability.
As a public service they will be funded from the public purse. This jeans not only so the those who receive the money have to account for what it has
been spent on, but also the way it has been spent and the decisions that underlie those decisions. The Police Helicopter Squadron is a unit of the Bavarian police.
IT has an annual budget of ?7 million a year which is used to support and maintain the 9 helicopters that are run.
