also indicates some of the way leadership may be constrained, by culture, resources and current practices. When looking at leadership in the context of a high tech firm there
is the need to adopt an approach of leadership that is suited to the industry. There are three basic styles of leadership. Different situations may require divergent styles, which will
reflect the values and personality. However, there are there main styles that are characterised as autocratic, democratic and non-directive. Autocratic is also known directive, this is a task orientated leadership
style. Democratic is more self explanatory, however this may also be seen as process orientated and concerned with relationship ratter than task behaviour. The final style is non-directive, this is
also known as a Laissez Faire styles which is indirect and involves deferring to others. When applying these to the working world each may be seen as having potential advantages
and disadvantages. The autocrat may be seen as a leader that is most associated with scientific management styles. The leadership style was
