1976 in Cupertino, California (Dohrman, 1997). By 1980, less than four years later, Apple computer had more than 1,000 employees and they were selling their computer around the world (Dohrman,
1997). When Jobs and Wozniak founded Apple Computer, they stated their mission as: "Our mission is just to build the best personal computers in the world" (Krantz, 1999). The companys
mission has not changed. Jobs pointed out that Apple is the only computer company that designs "the whole widget. Hardware, software, developer relations, marketing. It turns out that that, in
my opinion, is Apples greatest strategic advantage" (Krantz, 1999). During the 1984 Super Bowl, Apple Computer announced the Macintosh computer that was called "the computer for the rest of us"
(Dohrman, 1997). The Macintosh Operating System (OS) made this an easy personal computer for anyone to learn and use (Dohrman, 1997). The OS offered visual elements like toolbars, menus
and icons (Dohrman, 1997). It was also a relatively affordable as well as a user-friendly computer (Dohrman, 1997). The company, specifically, John Scully, who was CEO of Apple at
the time, made a devastating mistake (Dohrman, 1997). In 1985, Scully confronted Bill Gates, founder and CEO of Microsoft, and accused Gates of using the Macintosh graphic interface, which is
what made the Mac so easy to use (Dohrman, 1997). Gates did agree not to use the graphic interface in Windows 1 and that was Scullys tragic mistake because the
agreement between the two CEOs said nothing about future versions of Windows and, as we all know, Microsoft implemented the graphic interface with the next version of Windows (Dohrman, History,
