the authors developed the theme of appearance vs. reality in their plays, I was trying to show the distinct difference in tone and writing style that characterizes the two works.
I know both Ibsen and Shakespeare extremely well, so the text was not a problem. What I did enjoy was approaching familiar works in a new way, looking for material
to support my thesis that there is a profound difference in the authors approach to their material. The most difficult part of the paper was finding quotes to support my
arguments. Its often the case that when a person knows a piece of literature well, its easy to make the argument; but then a line-by-line reading is sometimes necessary to
find the precise quote needed to back it up. For example, the line "who steals my purse steals trash" is very effective, but it takes some hunting to find it
so that it can be cited properly. The papers strengths include the fact that I know and understand the plays, and that the paper is well-written, correctly spelled and punctuated,
and doesnt twist up the syntax like spaghetti. It also offers well-reasoned arguments that develop the thesis clearly. If I had more time, Id simply try to streamline it and
find the most appropriate supporting quotations possible. What I didnt put in was a plot summary of either play, which would almost certainly help someone who was unfamiliar with the
