an affair with a woman and how he slowly comes to realize that it is perhaps more than an affair. He is not unfamiliar with affairs, for that is the
type of man he is, but with this one woman he seems to find something different. The following paper analyzes aspects of Chekhovs story. The Lady with the
Dog In the beginning of this story we have Dmitri Dmitritch Gurov who is a married man who loves women, though he outwardly deems them lesser than men. He is
a man who often has affairs, and so he thinks an affair with this woman who has a dog would be interesting. However, as this affair develops he finds he
cannot stop thinking about her even when she returns to her home. He tracks her down, and the plan their future together in the end of the story. The
main character is Dmitri Dmitritch Gurov and we know of him through the third person narrator who has nothing to do with the story. Dmitri is a man who is
arrogant and empty it seems. He has always cheated in his marriage, or marriages, and simply cannot do without women. He is a hound for women in many ways and
he recognizes this. They are a challenge and women have always been drawn to him. But, with this one woman he begins to become far too involved for his own
comfort and ultimately wants to leave his old life behind and be with her. His lover, Anna Sergeyevna, is a lonely woman but she is not of the same
character as him. She is not one who seems to easily give herself to other men, but she is also unhappy in her life and for the most part we
