genes control impulsivity and aggression (Burfeind and Bartusch, 2011). Research has identified three specific genes that are most associated with the traits of anti-social behaviors and aggression and that can
lead to criminal behavior. These are DAT1, DRD2 and MAOA (Burfeind and Bartusch, 2011). MOA (Monoamine oxidase) is an enzyme that has been found to have a relationship with anti-social
behaviors. MAOA is the structural gene for production of this enzyme. Four other chemicals, epinephrine, norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine, have also been linked to anti-social behavior and criminal behaviors (Jones,
2005). Serotonin is involved with depression and anxiety. A disorder can lead to aggression and impulsivity (Jones, 2005). Genes have been linked to anti-social behaviors, conduct disorder, oppositional disorder and
