Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 5 page essay that contrasts and compares the gospel accounts of Jesus being anointed with perfume by a woman. All four gospel accounts of the life, ministry and sacrifice of Jesus of Nazareth include a story, which occurs shortly before the crucifixion where he is anointed by a woman using expensive perfume. While all the gospels tell this story, there are distinct differences between the accounts, which indicate slightly different interpretations and theological focus. This examination, first of all, looks at these accounts and then offers discussion and comparison. No additional sources cited.

that the perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor. However, Jesus responded by questioning why they were bothering this woman, as "She has done
a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me" (Matt. 26:10-11). Jesus goes on to directly relate this act
to his burial and says that it was done in preparation. "I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also
