881-908. The authors set out to investigate their hypothesis that "gender devaluation will be strongest in highly gender-segregated labor markets." They suggest that one reason for the phenomenon may be
that when the labor market is segregated by gender, "men are in a stronger position to benefit from devaluation while women are less able to resist it." The authors findings
strongly support their hypothesis: "Higher levels of occupational segregation at the labor market level are associated with a significantly increased tendency to devalue womens work roles." Edley, C.

the "hard choices about race that must be made in our national policies and private practices, and how to think carefully about those choices." He believes that people tend to
fall into two categories, those who are comfortable with ambiguity and complexity, and those who need simple, clear, quick answers. He states that his main conclusion is this: "When you
think carefully about hard choices, they turn out to be very hard indeed." He focuses on black/white relations because he is most familiar with it, though he mentions womens causes,
