beer companies, domestic or foreign, have been doing as well. Regional brewers that lacked the scale of the industry giant, saw their share of the American beer market shrink drastically
in 1998. In fact, many smaller brands were forced out of business. Anheuser-Buschs main competitors, Miller Brewing and Coors, have never been able to match Anheuser-Buschs advertising and promotion capabilities,
much less its sheer volume of production. Despite what might be seen as a freewheeling industry, most beer companies have remarkably traditional corporate structures. Anheuser-Busch is no exception.
In looking at the corporate structure one sees a multitude of top executives and that the company is run with a firm structure. August A. Busch III, for example, is
both Chairman of the Board and on the Strategy Committee which is comprised of high officers. Chairman August Busch III, incidentally, is the fourth generation family member to lead the
