Each Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life plays on television, virtually non-stop, and pictures the once-mortal Clarence getting his "wings" by helping Jimmy Stewart's character to appreciate his life. Likewise, demons continue to abound in every sort of horror movie. of these presentations are actually based on scripture. Origin of angels and demons Angels : Scripture indicates that angels, as with humanity, are created beings.1 In speaking of the
creation of humanity, Psalm 8:6 states that God made human beings a "little less than the angels."2 The Epistle to the Hebrews refers to "ministering spirits."3 Angels were not
formerly human beings, according to scripture, therefore, one does not "become" an angel in the afterlife.4 They are referred to in Job 1:6 and 2:1 as "sons of God" because
they were directly created by the God the Father. Job 38:4-7 states that "All the sons of God" exclaimed with joy at the creation of the earth (Angels). This passage
also shows that God created the angels prior to creating the earth. Psalm 148 says, "Praise ye him, angels...for he commanded, and they were created." Demons : All
angels were created sinless, but one of their number, Lucifer, wanted to be as the Most High (Isaiah 14:27). Ezekiel 28:15-17 describes Lucifers fall. Matthew 10:1 describes how the fallen
angels lost their original holiness and became corrupt in nature and conduct.5 In 2 Peter 2:4, it tells of how some were cast into hell and are held there in
chains until the day of judgement.6 Robert Bradshaw points out that most theologians agree that the popular Evangelical view of Satan owes more to John Milton than to the
teachers of scripture. For example, Old Testament scripture does not refer to "Satan" by that name, but rather uses the word "Serpent."7 Job 1:6 says that he approached God with
