the truth is that ancient history is the place from which all modern life originates. In addition, through understanding history and knowing history societies can learn and hopefully avoid some
of the same mistakes. In essence, ancient history, and all history, is a part of who and where we are today. With that in mind the following paper first examines
ancient civilizations, such as the Egyptians and the Greeks, and then examines history from the Romans to the Renaissance. The paper then discusses the period in history from the Renaissance
to the 20th century, finishing with a section on the 20th and the 21st century. Ancient Civilizations When one thinks of
ancient history one of the first civilizations that comes to mind is the Egyptians. They were a powerful culture, lasting for centuries, and creating such wondrous pieces as the pyramids.
Their artwork still stands today as some of the most powerful and influential. Despite some of its simplicity, the Egyptians, the Pharaohs, the art, and the presumed technology of the
Egyptians clearly offer a great deal of information to present day viewers concerning the civilization of humanity. In terms of the historical
time period, from around 3100-2686 BC the Egyptians had their "Early Egyptian dynastic period, with a succession of kings that strengthened the unification of the two Egypts" (Ancient History Timeline,
2006). From around 2900 to 2000 BC one can see the emergence of the Bronze Age along with the early Aegean cultures which would ultimately combine with Egyptian culture and
