But far from debating the relative merits of Fox news or television journalism, in general, the production of such a report demonstrates the millennia of speculation about the pyramids and the sphinx. Consider the fact that Herodotus theorized in the fifth century B.C.E. that the Egyptians moved the massive blocks used to construct the pyramids: The ascent, he wrote, was regularly graduated by what some call . . . steps and others . . . altars.
