Egyptian architecture could have never been created, in fact, without this social stratification, a stratification which thrives because of the vivid contrast between the most powerful and the most weak in Egyptian society. The record which ancient Egyptians have left behind is one which emphasizes the fact of a multitude of influences from a diversity of cultures which all worked ogether to create a unique Egyptian society. along with that culture has varied greatly over time. This fact too is testified to by Egyptian architecture. Indeed, Egypt is replete with many ancient wonders. Her
dry environment has preserved many of her ancient monuments and temples into the present. Features such as the great pyramids of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs and the sphinx, a
two-hundred and forty foot long statue with the body of a lion and a head of a man, attract tourists from all over the world and stand as a long
lasting gift from ancient Egypt to the modern world. What many fail to realize is that the time period spanned by ancient Egypt and the number of cultures and
rulers which played in its history is tremendous. Throughout its entirety, however, the archeological record serves as a clue to the values and lifeways of these fascinating peoples.
