--properly! The Law as a Living Body is simply a way to state that the law is ever changing and adapting
much in the same way that living entities do. The law will change according to its environment, the time, and the circumstances involved. While the method of change is supposed
to be through the courts and legislation it is often the enforcement agencies that are left to decide how and when to interpret the law. That way, the Law as
a Living Body demonstrates the way and method that laws are not only enforced but interpreted. This paragraph helps the student establish a framework for the rest of the
paper. It is common that law enforcement agencies change the way they enforce and uphold a law according to the societal needs of the time. Laws on the books are
often adjusted in how they are enforced and punished. Outdated laws that are no longer applicable are often ignored by law enforcement. Other times, laws are changed to better suit
the times. A law about mandatory minimum sentences can be changed at a whim, seemingly, to suit the situation of a jurisdiction. If a court system is too full then
law enforcement is capable of altering the law to allow that fewer people are charged with a crime that requires the minimum sentence. Some state that this degrades the objectivity
