methods to perform this analysis, two of which are the PESTLE analysis and Porters Five Forces analysis. PESTLE is an acronym for political influences, environmental issues, social values, technological changes,
legislation and democracy, such as new legislation, and economic conditions and factors (ELTEC, n.d.; Reynolds, n.d.). The greatest advantage of the PESTLE analysis is that it reveals trends in these
six categories that could have a direct impact on the organizations operational success (ELTEC, n.d.). A formal analysis will provide insight into possible and probable trends and developments in the
external environment, including trends in the political arena, environmental issues and concerns, advances and changes in technology that will directly affect the performance of the organization, possible new laws and
regulations and economic trends. The only disadvantages with the PESTLE are that the analysis takes time and study, which will result in expenditures and that identified trends may become a
best guess condition. It is imperative to analyze each of the categories in terms of how each will influence the industry as a whole and the company in particular, the
effect on consumers/customers and the effect on all other stakeholders, both internal and external. Porters Five Force analysis has been used by companies and organizations successfully for decades. It continues
to prove its viability and validity. Porter identified five forces that drive any industry: the threat of new entrants; the bargaining power of consumers; the bargaining power of suppliers, intra-industry
rivalry; and the treat of substitutes (Porter, 1980). Each of these forces have the potential of having a positive or negative impact on companies within the industry. Each must also
