and ability to be a more informed viewer of any commercial or advertisement. Second, there is information about how beer companies do try to entice youth, hopefully, making these students
more alert and more aware of how easy it is to be drawn into thinking something is cool or whatever jargon the kids are using. Most items in the first
set of "objectives" are not objectives, they are activities. An objective must be measurable, it must identify who is going to do exactly what to what degree of proficiency by
when. Items number 6 "Create a 2-3 minute presentation of the product to present to class"; 7 "After watching the ads, students will be able to distinguish and identify the
type of advertising technique used"; and number 8 "Create an original public service announcement, including drawing a picture, writing the ad, and listing the techniques used." Are objectives. They are
clear enough and they are measurable. Under section D, some objectives need to be strengthened. For instance, in #2, "Identify the effort the alcohol industry invests in beer ads"
what does effort mean? It is money, time, other resources, subterfuge, deceit or what? While the others are relatively clear objectives, some additions would help, for instance, for #3, how
are students going to demonstrate their evaluation, through an essay, discussion, presentation? The same comment holds true for #5 "Analyze how the beer company attempts to divert attention from these
effects." Will students present their analysis in writing, discussion, etc.? These are minor improvements that need to be made to make the objectives clearer, leaving no questions as to what
