Seale, is a story which depicts the Blank Panther Party as well as the turbulent 1960s era. It is interesting to note that Seale, who was the former national
chairman of the Black Panthers wrote this book while imprisoned. This paper will discuss the political perspective of the author and the Black Panther party in general as well
as present evidence which supports the idea that this party is not able to be regarded as a viable entity based on their total disregard for creating change within the
confines of the present political system. This book is essentially about African Americans and their resistance to racism and oppression.
According to this book, the Blank Panthers in the 1960s were responsible for exposing a great deal of racism on the part of white America and the Black Panthers
responded in a very vocal way. This group has been condemned through the years by various groups for their extremely assertive stance on racism. Some would say they are
even extremist in their views and respond to allegations of racism with violence. Of course, leaders in the Black Panther group claim their organization is non-violent. They claim
simply to the goal of eradicating racism. Seize the Time, tells the story of Huey P. Newton who was co-founder of the Black Panthers. Newton went to jail from
1967 to 1971 and during that time enrollment in the Black Panthers went from about 75 to 5,000. While many would claim that Newton was not all that important
