by Brian Duffy appears. This article is a brief editorial that speaks of the energy problems we are having today. It is also an article that speaks of a tragedy
many years ago, the tragedy that occurred at Chernobyl. The argument is that something needs to be done about our energy crisis and it must be done quickly. This argument
does not appear, however, until the second paragraph of the article, after the author has laid down some foundational elements. The argument appears when the author notes, "if we dont
start changing our ways soon, really bad things are going to happen" (Duffy 10). In relationship to the reason, or main reasons,
the first paragraph makes this essentially clear when indicating that the government is running around in circles because of the rising gas prices. There are many people arguing many different
reasons for the problem and presenting different solutions, some quite ridiculous. And, illustrating thise conditions which were taking place at the same time a memorial was being held for the
disaster at Chernobyl further stresses the apparent urgency of the issue. However, at the same time it is clear that nothing is really being done, and perhaps nothing will be
done in any serious or affective manner. In all honesty, everyone knows that there is a serious crisis taking place as it
involves energy and as such Duffy does not necessary need to present a lot of facts to support his argument. But, he does bring in the element of Chernobyl and
how the energy crisis is just continuing along with little in the way of answers or solutions. And, his main point is that we do not have a lot of
