childhood abuse and obesity in young adulthood. The abstract of that paper says that the study was of young adults with a median age of 22; and that the sample
was large and representative of this age in the U.S. (15,197 persons). The study found that after controlling for demographics and depression, men with a history of childhood sexual abuse
were at increased risk of overweight and obesity. The same did not hold true for women. The authors noted that theirs was the first study to note an association among
childhood abuse, obesity and problematic weight management in young adults. Introduction The correlation between obesity, overweight and abuse makes sense psychologically. People who are abused often turn
to food for comfort and if the abuse continues, so does the use of food as a means of dealing with it. This paper analyzes a recent study done on
the correlation between abuse and obesity and other disordered eating patterns. Discussion The topic of the study is the connection between childhood abuse and maltreatment and eating disorders in young
adults. There is a "rising prevalence of obesity among young adults in the U.S. population" that has been labeled as a "growing public health concern" (Fuemmeler et al 329). Studies
