one womans struggle in her own mind, a story of a woman caught in a world where women have no control, no power, and are ultimately at the mercy of
a patriarchal society. The following paper provides a brief analysis of this story. The Yellow Wallpaper The first question asked by the student requesting this paper is "why
has she imagined things in this wallpaper?" In order to understand the answer to this one must examine the entire story. This woman has been taken to a country home
in order to recover. She is considered to be over strained and is all but forced to stay in this house, never write, never learn or think, and to be
forced to a room she is not happy with. She would have preferred to have been in another room with a beautiful view but is told by her husband that
the room with the yellow wallpaper is better for her. Because of her feeling of confinement she becomes more and more depressed and anxiety ridden. She is forced to
do nothing but rest and this leaves her with far too much time on her hands to truly immerse herself in her depression. As she becomes more and more immersed
in this depression she begins to see things in this wallpaper, a patterned wallpaper, that essentially symbolizes her sense of entrapment and oppression. She has little choice but to stare
and imagine things in this wallpaper and as she is in a weakened frame of mind she quickly becomes lost in the wallpaper, losing her mind. The second question
asked by the student requesting this paper is "what is significant about John, her husband, in this story?" John, her husband, believes he knows what is best for her. He
