psychologically immersed. While it is a story that outwardly seems to be a ghost story it is also a story that possesses many possibilities in terms of its real intent,
its theme, or message. It is a mystery, as well as a disturbing story. It is, in short, a story that is many things. The following paper analyzes the story,
focusing on possible thesis. The paper analyzes the subconscious sexual desire possessed by the narrator as seen throughout the novel, and then also examines how the novel can be seen
as one that speaks of the inability of one woman, because of her ignorance and arrogance, to protect the children. Analysis of The Turn of the Screw by
Henry James As mentioned in the introduction, one could well argue that this novel is one that speaks volumes about suppressed sexuality on
the part of the narrator. She is a young woman who seems to subtly keep herself distant from things of any romantic nature, and keep herself distant from ever even
openly making any sort of sexual comment, even innocent ones. The student should understand that there is never any mention of sexual realities, no romantic connections really, and the story
seems to truly keep such plot lines out of the novel completely. The innocent reader would easily just see this novel as a mystery that was confusing and not one
that was actually avoiding particular issues such as sex. As an example of the hidden sexual suppression in the novel one can
