themes involving parenting and science and denial and responsibility. It is a story that addresses the roles of men and women and a story that addresses the power of family
and commitment. The following paper analyzes specific aspects of the story, answering questions posed by the student requesting this essay. Frankenstein The first subject involves how women are
presented in the novel. Where Victor Frankenstein is concerned his first relationship, that with his mother, is the most important relationship for it is her death that drives him to
try to create a human being and keep death away. For the most part women are seen as almost magical and fragile creatures, reflective of the time period, that are
reliant on men for protection and support. The women in the story really have no power that it their own and they are generally there only at the mans whim.
This is especially true of Victors love who pines for him while he is obsessed with his creation. For the most part the women are in the story as objects
that involve the men. They are love interests or conveniences. They are angelic mothers or saviors for men but they are still without a life of their own.
The second analysis involves Victors perspectives of women and the monsters perspective of women. Victor is obsessed with his mother who he believes is,
or was, the most perfect woman alive. She was always there to take care of him and love him and that is a perfect woman. He expects this from his
soon to be bride as well. But, he does not really see either one as a viable human being on their own it seems. In the case of the monster
