study of the interactions between health visitors and the refugee families they serve in the U.K. Summary of the Article The article describes a study done with 13 health visitors,
who participated in semi-structured interviews to explain their work with refugee immigrants to the U.K. In particular, the study concentrated on refugee women, who were found to suffer from
depression at a higher rate than either refugee immigrant men, or indigenous women. Only 13 people were interviewed for the article; in addition, they were chosen because they
work in two London boroughs. This is a very small sample, both numerically and geographically; extrapolating from it to draw conclusions for a larger population should be approached with
caution. Also, because the research technique was a semi-structured interview, the article presents a series of anecdotes rather than presenting tables of "hard data." Discussion Is the process used to
analyze data clearly spelt out? As noted above, there is no data per se; but there are remarks from the interviewees with regard to the way in which they
try to help the refugee immigrant families. Its clear that every effort was made to insure the responses would be anonymous and the health workers privacy stringently guarded. Were
the processes for data analysis appropriate to answer the research question? The research question, or the purpose of the study, is to find out how well the immigrant refugee population
is served with regard to their health care needs, as that service is perceived by the health visitors. That is a very narrow field, and this study is sufficient
