interest in the subject matter. In Frederick Lewis Allens work "Only Yesterday" we have a history book that is intriguing and enjoyable for the average reader. It is the examination
of a decade that has come and gone, the 1920s. It is, however, not just a historical work that illustrates the economic problems or the political issues of the time,
but a work that presents the reader with almost every conceivable aspect of the 1920s one would wish to know. In addition, it was written right after the 1920s by
one who lived through the entire decade and observed. It is a work that possesses a bit of history for everyone from those interested in the technology to those interested
in economics, written by one who is incredibly good at telling a story which is history. The following paper summarizes the work and then analyzes the material within Allens work.
Summary Frederick Lewis Allens work, as mentioned in the introduction, discusses all aspects of the 1920s. He begins with a look at how the nation was dealing with
life following WWI and it essentially ends after the stock market crash of 1929. His book truly begins when he discusses the year 1919 which took establishes the foundations of
what we will see in 1920. From there he illustrates how the nation returns to a form of normalcy following the terrible war that affected everyone in many ways.
