there are two sources for verifiability: empirical statements that come from science and analytic truth that says statements are true or false by definition (Loyola University, 2011). Baronets study is
empirical insofar as she followed an empirical model to prove or disprove her assumptions. If we view an ontological argument to mean the existence of something as opposed to the
existence of God (Oppy, 2007), Baronet makes an ontological assumption that there is a link between variables in the caregiving study. She further makes and axiological assumption in that there
is a premise that family support may influence the caregivers feelings. Epistemologically, Baronet is making the assumption that a controlled analysis of information will result in useful results. Baronet
used a series of questionnaires, each of which has been validated for obtaining the information surveyed. The Burden Assessment Scale assessed objective and subjective burden; the Care Work Satisfaction Scale
measured the caregivers own feelings of self-worth gained from caring for the individual; the Social Behavioral Assessment Schedule assessed behaviors of the mentally ill person; the McMaster Family Assessment Device
General Functioning subscale was used to gain information regarding the quality of the relationship between caregiver and recipient; and the Perceived Social Support from Family scale assessed the caregivers perception
of family support. The researcher then used different correlation statistical analyses. The researchers hypotheses were: low levels of family support combined with a high level of problems with the relationship
between caregiver and recipient would result in high subjective burden. It was hypothesized that this same combination would result in a low level of satisfaction for the caregiver. Statistical
analysis found that objective burden, problems in the relationship and behaviors of the patient resulted in subjective burden. These were also correlated with satisfaction. This supported part of the researchers
