The author defined talent as natural aptitudes, special aptitudes or having a high degree of mental ability (Groenewald, 2004). The author also defined co-operative education as a process wherein a
student would attend an educational program and also work in an organization. It is a joint effort between a company and an educational institution to provides work experience where the
material being learned in school is applied (Groenewald, 2004). The methodological assumption followed the premise of interpretation of information to understand behaviors is observed in the specific methods the
investigator used. The researcher conducted in-depth phenomenological interviews. The two core questions were: "How did/do you experience the joint educational venture? and "What value, if any, has been derived from
the collaborative effort?" (Groenewald, 2004, p. 12). Phenomenological research is concerned with exactly how the research participants perceive their experience (Hutton, 2009). This perspective places the greatest emphasis on
how an individual perceives their experience and how that relates to their perception of reality. The questions this researcher asked focused explicitly on the participants feelings, beliefs and experiences (Groenewald,
2004). Participants are able to express those feelings, thereby, interpreting their own experiences. Groenewald(2004) also recognized that he could not be without some presuppositions. The definitions of co-operative education and
talent reflected beginning suppositions insofar as the meanings of these two terms were clearly defined. The researcher also kept field notes. Observational notes were just notes on what happened;
theoretical notes reflected the researchers thoughts about the reflections on their experiences; methodological notes were reminders to the researcher to do something; and analytical notes were made at the end
of each day and reflected a summary of the information (Groenewald, 2004). The epistemological assumptions have to do with the investigation of the phenomena and the researchers interpretations (Hutton, 2009).
