of which call for the person to change or accept, or in Matthews case, to confront. Proverbs, for example, is filled with insight on ending disagreements, dealing with anger and
on what causes conflict. The Psalms depict God as the peacemaker.1 Scripture is most often about individual personal conflict but the lessons can be translated to organizations. One lesson is
to do what you can to avoid conflict and one example is how Gideon tried to avoid conflict with Ephraims army.2 This account tells us how the leader can take
steps to avoid or at least minimize conflict that will erupt in the organization or congregation. The paper on conflict was supposed to be about what Maxwell said about
handling conflict in the organization. One confusion may come because Maxwell discusses conflict in terms of problem solving. And, problem solving, in turn is a skill leaders must have.

What Maxwell said was that to gain credibility, the leader must have integrity. When a leader has credibility, she will be able to bring about change more easily. Maxwell devotes
