firms have to wait for the public sector to deliver. Instead, there are companies like Brown a.k.a. UPS, or Federal Express that many refer to as Fedex. That is the
situation in the United States. However, worldwide, when firms want to deliver packages or letters, they usually rely on DHL. DHL is a company that was created in 1969 and
pioneered the "air express industry" boasting a first route from San Francisco to Honolulu ("DHL History," 2004). The company was purportedly founded by "three free spirited Americans" ("Business," 2003, p.73).
The firm first had the idea of documenting shipments prior to arrival ("DHL History," 2004) . Many people love to track their packages when they order things by mail, but
of course, this was not always possible in the past. This new innovation to some extent speeds up the way in which goods can be imported (2004). It has revolutionized
the industry. DHL has had a unique idea that to some extent set the firm apart from other shippers. The DHL network did grow rather quickly and the firm
would go from Hawaii to the Far East and then to the Pacific Rim; the firm traveled to the Middle East, as well as Africa and Europe ("DHL History," 2004).
In about four years time, the firm had expanded in order to provide services to as many as 3,000 customers that also had at least 300 staff members (2004). By
the time 1977 rolled around, the firm had extended its range of services and then it began to deliver smaller packages in addition to documents (2004). In 1982, the first
