prove difficult. One might choose a public park or library to sit and observe. One technique which may be used at a park, lake or museum is to take a
sketch pad and actually begin to draw pictures. People will inevitably look over the students shoulder, but when observations are made by the student, he or she can quickly turn
to a sheet in order to record data. An example of conducting such a survey for example may be shown as follows: Observing behaviors of ordinary human beings is rather
interesting. On the chosen day, Sunday, October 1, I recorded behaviors of a number of individuals who attended a nearby shopping mall. I sat in the mall with several packages
in order to appear as if I were a shopper and then made observations; I quickly took a note pad out of my pocket and jotted those down. It is
hoped that I appeared as if I were writing a shopping list of some sort and not watching others. As I sat, I noticed a brown haired, blue eyed girl
approaching a bench opposite mine. I recorded her movements. She sat down about a foot away from an older woman dressed in all black with a number of shopping
bags and a large, leather handbag. This girl was about 55 and weighed maybe about 120 pounds. Her hair was shoulder length and her nails were short and seemingly bitten.
In fact, I observed her biting one of her nails on her right hand three times during the course of this study. This first subject put one of her hands
deep into a shopping bag and pulled out a stuffed animal. She observed it quickly and grimaced as if she may have bought the wrong item. She was about 25
