I went to the local police department and found two low-level workers who were women, and asked them questions about what its like to participate in the workplace,
especially in relation to diversity and their views of how they are treated. I cleared the interview process with the highest level manager in the department, and then asked
two women to participate. I then gave each of the participants an informed consent form and asked them to review it and sign it before participation. I also
ensured each woman that I would keep their information confidential and showed them the confidentiality clause in the informed consent document prior to starting the interview.
In the semi-structured interview, I asked questions about the use of Equal Opportunity publications and their value in the workforce, including whether the principles that were
introduced were applied in the workplace. I wanted to gain some insight from people other than managers about their views on diversity and equal opportunities in the workplace. Because
some of this information might have the potential to impact the workplace setting, I had to ensure that confidentiality could be guaranteed. I decided that I was going to
record the conversations and transcribe the interviews later. I realized that this meant that I had two pieces of information that had to be kept confidential, and I also
had to ensure that the participants felt comfortable with voice recordings. Rather than documenting the interviewers name and information on both sheets, I kept a separate sheet not contained
