Syndrome, who is subsequently learning disabled. Adaptation #1: The LD student should be matched with a peer-tutor, a student who can assist in participation in the group activities.
This adaptation is student-based and relates the need for one-on-one support for active student participation. It is also designed to reduce the separation of the student from the
activity that might occur if support staff (an educational technician, for example) is used in the place of the peer-tutor. Adaptation #2: The group
activities can be completed in the form of active cooperative learning activities, in which each student in a group of four students reads a segment of the assigned "data" and
discusses it (or explains it) to the other students. The peer-tutor can help the LD learner with their reading segment and the group explanations can be used to support
a greater understanding of the lesson as a whole. The rationale for this adaptation again relates to the need for additional reading support and the importance of the peer-tutor in
the place of staff for completion of the activity. Adaptation #3: Adaptations will be made in the rubric for the writing segment of the assignment in order to reflect
the support of the peer-tutor in the writing piece of the assignment and to promote understanding through the use of diagrams, pictures and other medium. Technical/computer support can also
be used in this segment for the LD learner, based on the fact that diagrams and pictures may be a better source of explanation about the material for the LD
