conjures images of English country homes surrounded by a seemingly endless countryside. The names of poets and poems are often a blur as the style is emphasized more than
substance. But romantic poetry is more than a form or type - to me, it represent periods of transition that is much like life itself. First, there were
the early romantics like William Blake and Robert Burns that were only trying to express themselves and werent concerned about conforming to any genre. Then, there were the so-called
Lake Poets like William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge that took what Blake and Burns started and truly made it their own. After that creative pinnacle came John Keats,
George Gordon (better known as Lord Byron), Percy Bysshe Shelley, and Thomas Moore, who turned their backs on the divine approach to Romanticism, which inspired critics to refer to them
as the Satanic Group. William Blake was a master engraver as well as an accomplished poet. He was interested in crafting a unique art form that would allow him
to express his own uncensored views about God. What better than to place them within a natural setting, that could be unspoiled by either man or society? In
"The Tiger," Blake appears to be pondering the marvels of the world while at the same time wondering what kind of God is responsible for it all, whether it is
one or many? As for Robert Burns, he seemed to be more interested in Gods people, or specifically, his fellow Scots. Burns was responsible for associating Romantic poetry
with a particular place through imagery but most importantly in regional dialect. His most famous poem, "Auld Lang Syne," has become a popular New Years Eve sentiment that has
