has a disfigured face as an accident of birth, he or she cannot help that. In the film Vanilla Sky, the protagonist has an accident which turns his face into
something grotesque. This is not his fault. Another example is Colin Ferguson, the man who shot several people on a Long Island commuter train several years ago. He represented himself
at his own trial and it became clear that he was mentally imbalanced. In these cases, the physical or psychological attributes are not a consequence of will. The individual does
not necessarily want to be in that state, and certainly did not will the states that had manifest. Using will implies intention. To achieve good will, one has to
be rewarded not for ones performance, but for his or her actions which may be attributable to a sense of duty (Honderich 323). To some, this might sound disingenuous. One
is rewarded because of their sense of duty or obligation. They do not have affairs because they have a sense of duty to their marriage, but they lust in their
hearts. Some might fault such individuals anyway, because they are acting only due to their commitment and not what they want to do. The strength then lies in not wanting
to stray. Yet, many would disagree, and so would Kant. The moral action is in the right action of sticking to ones commitment and acting out of a sense of
duty. That is good will. Man acts from his good will, according to Kant, when he does what is in the interests of his obligations. Kants ideology is further centered
