Upper and Lower Egypt in the prehistoric era. The Predynastic period encompasses the Early Predynastic period of the Badarian culture (about 5000-3900BC), the Middle Predynastic period of the Nagada
I (or Amratian) cultures (about 3900-3650BC), the Late Predynastic period of the Nagada II (or Gerzean) cultures (about 3650 to 3050BC), and the Terminal Predynastic period of the Nagada III
