is rendered neutral. At its site, the subheading is "For Fairness, Balance and Accuracy in News Reporting." Their stated goal, as contained on the web site is to "encourage members
of the media to report the news fairly and objectively--without resorting to bias or partisanship." That is their stated objective. Yet, in viewing parts of the site, it becomes
clear that there could in fact be a bias to the right as they claim that the majority of news reporters are Democrats. The implication is that media is slanted
to the left. While many would agree with that, and it is clear even for the most liberal of individuals, there are some who oppose that notion. The idea of
being fair means that one wants fairness but is not bashing one side or another. Fox News Channel says it is "fair and balanced" for example but most people can
see that it slants to the right. However, some contend that Fox gives the other point of view because the media is very liberal and so, giving the conservative view
is inherently fair as it is provided amongst the liberal reporting. In that way, Fox is said to provide balance. Hence, in regard to the web site at hand,
this organizations principle mission is to create balance, but a question lingers as to whether or not it is slanted slightly to the right. One piece of evidence to that
end is when scanning the list of members, the only recognizable one is Charlton Heston, who is definitely on the right. Another sign is that a pop up ad that
came about while visiting had been marketing a book entitled "How to Beat the Democrats." While this is not connected with the site, certainly marketers know who they are targeting
