one of the largest companies of its kind in the world as well as one of the most diversified casino enterprises in the United States ("SWOT Analysis," 2004). As do
other companies, Harrahs must pay attention to economic conditions, safety and legal issues, as well as a multitude of factors as it runs this massive enterprise. II. Safety
Safety is an important consideration in the hospitality industry. However, when casinos are involved, there is inordinate attention to protection as it respects the law. There is a
legal drinking age as well as a legal gambling age. To that end, Harrahs is diligent in upholding the laws concerning gambling (Fuller, 1999). They do this in part to
assure the safety of their guests and to make sure that the children have adequate supervision (Fuller, 1999). They are strict in assuring that the parents know where their children
are at all times (Fuller, 1999). This is a good policy because children are easy prey and the casino is not responsible for children who are wandering around on their
own. They also warn their customers that they will prosecute any minor using false identification (Fuller, 1999). Harrahs does realize that some guests might attempt to ignore the law
and provide ample warning. Mary Jane Fuller (1999) who spoke as the Director of Public Affairs several years ago made the following comment: " We want all of our customers
to have an enjoyable time at our properties, but we will not condone breaking the law. "We care, we card" and we will take action." In some way, this attitude
