to assess the way in which ethical issues can arise in the workplace. Some of the most difficult ethical dilemmas concern the issue of loyalty. The case1 sees the student
interviewed and then employed by a manager of the firm. The manager is professional, but also caring and helps the student when they need it. They are popular with the
employees and have a reputation for being fair. Their approach to the way they manage their staff is based on mutual respect and the results of his team of employees
are often some of the best in the company. He works hard as he wants to earn a promotion in order to increase his wages following the recent birth of
his first child, He is supporting his wife and child, Overall, the student likes working for the manager, and develops a sense of loyalty, they recruited and trained them and
have developed a degree of social commitment to the manager and the team. The student works late one night, when a delivery is being made, and witnesses a
scene that appears to be the manager taking a kick back from a supplier. This is expressly forbidden in the contract and in the firms code of ethics. The student
has split loyalties, there is the loyalty that is owed to the manager. The manager is one of the best in the company and this type of accusation, if proven
would be likely to cost the manager their job. The issue is also that of the team cohesion, if the team member makes the accusation and the manager looses their
