the seedy side of life. Jack the Ripper killed prostitutes and while his crimes were horrific, few heard of his victims. Rather, it was he who was notorious. Prostitutes are
bottom feeders, and they are expendable. However, sex work should be viewed as work. It is not easy to have sex all day long and the fact that the practice
is illegal exacerbates its discomforts. However, there are places where prostitution is legal. In the United States, there are a few counties
in Nevada where prostitution is legal (Decker 3). In several Australian states, prostitution has also been legalized (3). Interestingly, prostitution is illegal in most Asian countries despite its widespread appearance
(Marble 12). The fact that the practice is not legal in most places is not surprising. Many activities which are thought to impact morality are also illegal. Prohibition is
one instance which did not work and today, the government makes a great deal of money taxing liquor. Recreational drugs are prohibited and there is a large underground market for
it. The sex industry continues to flourish despite the laws against prostitution. Many would think that prostitution should continue to be illegal. People
should not get paid for sex. It is not work. After all, that is a model that the society has set up and many agree that in a moral society,
