One of the most socially disturbing phenomena is young girls who get pregnant well before they are psychologically mature enough for the
responsibilities of parenthood. There is something unnerving about seeing an obviously pregnant girl that looks like she should still be playing with Barbies! What is to become of
the young twelve, fourteen, or sixteen year old that has made the mistake of becoming sexually active and that is now paying the price of that mistake? More importantly,
what is to become of the child that she is carrying? One thing is obvious, teen pregnancy is the result of a
decline in the nations morals and ethics. It is a problem which is caused primarily by a mindset which emphasizes pleasure and immediate gratification over logic, restraint, and moral
behavior. It is a problem for which there is really no good resolution. The counterargument, of course, is that if we are old enough to parent a child
we should be fully capable of doing so. The refutation, of course, is that while we might be physiologically old enough we are not psychologically old enough. As
will be explained below, teen pregnancy simply has too many inherent problems to be good. Whatever the age, race, ethnicity
