that matter, equipped with high technology that allows calls to be traced immediately and every time, but cellular technically allows for portability. The first cell phones were huge. Today, phones
are tiny and come with headsets. People stroll around the supermarkets seemingly talking to themselves. Upon closer examination it is apparent that they are talking to someone on the telephone.
The fact that cell phones are so popular has even caused a new phenomenon where car accidents occur while people are busy with their phones. This prompted new legislation in
many jurisdictions and a situation where the industry is able to meet the need with hands free devices. The wireless industry is considered to be big business today.
Many countries around the world have about three or four carriers but the United States has six and they are Sprint PCS, Verizon, Cingular, T-Mobile, Nextel and AT&T Wireless
(Woolley, 2003). The use of the cell phone is highest in the United States, but per minute usage is the lowest cost there (2003). In fact, most of Verizons
plans boast free unlimited calling on weekends and after 9 p.m. Other carriers offer similar plans where minute usage is no longer a big worry. If one keeps their calls
to time periods other than prime, then their calling patterns can render a small monthly bill of perhaps forty or fifty dollars. That said, per minute usage when one goes
