The media is intertwined in most aspects of our lives. Unfortunately, while some of its impacts is positive, a considerable degree of its impact is negative.
This is certainly the case with the medias apparent preoccupation with violence. Media depictions of violence affects our society in more ways than we sometimes care to acknowledge.
Despite the disfavor the depiction of violence meets among some segments of society, however, the media seems intent on presenting more and more graphic detail in regard to violent
acts in the news and other programming content. Television is one of the primary culprits but it is hardly the only one. Television, newspapers and even radio has
become identified more with the depiction of violence than they have been by practically any other topic. If we approach this problem from the analytical framework of how media
violence affects our children we find a particularly disturbing relationship. The contention can be presented, in fact, that media violence is an important contributor to aggressive behavior and there
is clear evidence that exposure to it contributes to aggressive behavior in children and adolescent viewers. There is no doubting the fact that
the media sometimes incites violence (DuRant, Champion and Wolfson, 2006). The media is in fact a catalyst for violent expression on more than one societal front (DuRant, Champion and
Wolfson, 2006). Both adults and children are susceptible to the amount of violence they see or hear depicted in the media. No aspect of media, in fact, can
