Garcia Marquez most famous and infamous works. One author indicates how "many consider Love in the Time of Cholera his most enduring book" (Books and Writers). Like all of his
work it essentially embodies what is known as magical realism, in terms of literary style. The following paper analyzes this novel from three different perspectives. The paper examines the character
of Florentino, offers a summary of the story, and critiques the work. An Analysis of Love in the Time of Cholera
The main character in this novel is Florentino and he is a man who is seemingly strong and handsome, but also rather plain because he is not, perhaps, well educated
or smooth. But he is in love and in this he is very determined and obsessive as a person. He is intriguing in many ways. For example, he seems to
see himself as a virgin because he cannot obtain his true love, despite the fact that he is really a letch and towards the end of the book he is
having a sexual affair with a young teenager, which clearly illustrates he is not a virgin. But, at the same time perhaps he is a virgin in his heart and
this is different for him. He feels, it would seem, that all of these relationships are not honestly sexual because they do not involve love. He only has love for
Fermina. Marquez offers a great deal of information about Florentino. The reader feels they know him very well by the end of the book because Marquez spends a great
deal of time illustrating the man as he moves through his life for around fifty years, always waiting for Fermina. As to any information about Florentino that seems to be
