Lispector, and Tsvetayeva. The essential point of such a thorough examination of the rhetoric of these classic authors is to explore why womens voices have not been heard more
authoritatively or more loudly throughout history. Cixous argues that several different factors have potentially limited women from contributing on this basis. Perhaps, she argues, women have not had
access to education as men have, thereby limiting their ability to participate in the same realm with equal effectiveness. Or, has it been the result of a distinction between
the inherent gender differences, meaning a woman is predisposed to a difference in expression, resulting in a "womans rhetoric" so to speak.
There is a clear and evident effort by Cixous in this work to highlight this issue in order to emancipate it, rather than merely resurrecting the matter for
the pleasure of it alone. Cixous quite apparently yearns for the freedom of women, and remains ever-hopeful in her analysis. She strives to strike a delicate balance between
revealing the inhibitions which have historically endangered the voices of women versus extolling the virtues of women, which have served to uplift mankind from the inception of literature itself.
Its clear this feminist perspective seeks no harm, but merely wishes to illuminate her celebration of women. Specifically, Cixous extols
a number of important women and champions an array of causes, clearly indicating it is not the cause specifically she supports, but the passionate effort of the woman espousing it.
