perplexing to many people who cannot fathom that there is no end and no beginning. On the contrary, in biblical and religious theory, there is the notion of the alpha
and the omega or the beginning and the end. Yet, it is similarly difficult to fathom the beginning. Surely, something had to come before. When Aristotle addressed this issue,
he did so in respect to four causes, but perhaps he does not venture into what occurs prior to the cause. There may indeed be a cause, but in answering
the question of causation, one has to answer what occurred prior to an event. That is, if a human being is conceived for example, everyone knows it is the merging
of the egg and sperm, but what happened to cause the merge? Sex might be the answer, but then one has to look at the root cause of the activity
taking place. Perhaps if Aunt Zelda did not introduce her niece to her neighbors son, there would not be a marriage or sex taking place. Then, one could say if
Aunt Zelda was never born, there would be no matchmaker. One can begin to see that there is no end to the inquiry. When it comes to the beginning of
the world, scientists have different theories. Yet, in order to answer questions about beginnings it is first important to explore infinity. Hill (1997) explains the problem as one where an
individual accepts that there is a conception of infinity, and there is nothingness, but man simply cannot understand it. It is beyond comprehension. Man knows infinity exists, but he does
not know infinity (Hill, 1997). When looking at first causes, it would behoove a scientist to admit that there is no first cause because there has always been something
