and Scotland as Scotland struggled for their independence. The movie is based on the life of William Wallace who was a commoner in Scotland during this era and goes
on to be very instrumental in leading the fight against England. Wallace fights valiantly against the King, who is commonly referred throughout this film as Edward the LongShanks.
This movie portrays the events up to the famous Battle of Sterling Bridge and reveals that Wallace was eventually caught, tortured
and finally decapitated. There is even a love affair throughout the film between Wallace and a Princess, of course.
In terms of the psychological dimension of the film, there is an enormous amount of emotion generated by watching this piece. This film is extremely intriguing and complex with
an array of relationships, connections and meaning developed between characters and situations. In this way then, the psychological dimension of this film is one which is very rich and
detailed. For example, the main character at the beginning of the film is in love with a young woman from
his village. One cannot help but get wrapped up in the innocence and excitement of their devotion for each other. They want to be together and get married,
although the families do have their reservations. But clearly, the two are very much in love and very happy with each other.
Then, the English soldiers end up ruthlessly killing the woman Wallace loves in order to make a point with Wallace. The scene itself is very dramatic
