On a more personal basis, family is often the driving force in directing individual achievement. Educational goal setting often comes as a result of reflections on family values,
family goals and family support mechanisms. At the same time, the support or lack of support of family members, including children and spouses, can influence adult learners and make
or break their educational efforts. For these reasons and many others, I feel that I am one of the luckiest women alive. During my undergraduate years, I demonstrated
a long-standing desire to succeed in my educational pursuits. I worked full-time for Snapple Beverage Group while dedicating much of my time outside of work to my studies.
During this time, I demonstrated a passionate love for school and learning and became an active member of the educational community at Berkeley College. I was elected Vice President
of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and played an instrumental role in the development of that organization. I helped the organization grow from an initial membership of 3
people to 46 members after just six months. I also recognized the power of speaking collectively and the importance of having a clear voice, a clear vision, and a
sense of purpose. Academic achievement has always been in the forefront of my personal goals. During my four years of undergraduate learning, I was honored a
number of times and recognized for my achievement. I was published in "Whos Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges" and the "National Deans List." I was also
