time sensitive, operating in a highly competitive sector and many projects may be divergent it is understandable why we see systems such as activity based costing included in many chosen
solutions. One of the best recommendations may be to look at the way solutions are already used by companies, such as Fraunhof Institute for Computer Architecture and Software Technology which
uses a product called mySAP Financials (SAO Info, 2004). The main area of the system that adds value is the activity based costing aspect. To use this system a company
has to have a business process where there is a sequence of at least two activities required for the production of the product or service. This can be anything from
a car being put together to the development of IT solutions. The activity based systems look at the activities in an ABC manner and then form a useable and adaptable
model from which the company can work. The activities that the company undertakes are deconstructed. The individual tasks are then analysed with each component of that task broken down
and costed by way of the different resources that it consumes or requires. With this information the production of each item can be tracked right the way through the production
process with an accurate cost reflected in the figures. The system can also be used to project profits for an ongoing project or to simulate changes to the way any
