Our digestive system works largely because of enzymes. Amino acids make up these enzymes and because of them critical substances like fatty acids can be made available to
our bodies. Amino acids, of course, form all of lifes vital proteins, as well as its hormones, and enzymes.
Amino acids are critical in the formation of muscles, bones, organs, glands, connective tissues, nails and hair. They are formed in the liver from the proteins obtained by the
body through its food sources. Amino acids form long molecular chains which compose these substances. These in turn are broken down by the body through the digestive process
and then reassembled into new structures to start the process all over again. Enzymes formed by amino acids are the workhorses
of an organisms physiology, they act to change substances without being changed themselves (Tortora and Derrickson, 2005). Our food is essentially a combination of proteins, lipids, and phosphate ions
which combined form macromolecules. The pancreas secretes three enzymes: trypsin, amylase, and lipase. Amylase is responsible for the conversion of starch into simple sugars while trypsin beaks
down proteins and lipase works on the fats splitting them into fatty acids and glycerol. The pancreatic juice combines with the intestinal juices
